Analogue. Immersive. (Re:)Made for you.
Every Re:Make is different. Duration, craft-mix, pace, and depth are all aligned in a pre-programme conversation. What stays constant is the commitment to making. Slowly, deliberately, and with full attention.
Our programme draws on a curated network of local craftspeople, artists, and makers. People who are not only highly skilled, but generous with their knowledge and wisdom. You'll work in their studios, with their tools, alongside them. That proximity to a practitioner in their own space is central to the Re:Make concept.
Core analogue craft sessions
Daily hands-on sessions in the studio, working with timber, brass, steel, and heritage techniques. The objective is not skill acquisition, but rather the shift that happens when the head lets the hands take over.

Craft immersion sessions
Focused explorations with expert practitioners from across the region. From a two-hour taster to a full-day intensive. Each Re:Make participant designs their own personal combination of sessions during the pre-programme consultation.

Movement & landscape
Daily movement and time in the outdoors, with activities chosen according to energy, ability, and need. We view physical interaction with nature as an essential component of processing and thinking: ways to regulate the nervous system and allow insights to surface. Matakana's landscape has a uniqueness that consistently does something to the people who spend time in it.

Integration & final project
Towards the end of each residency, participants progress through a series of reflective frameworks, working on articulating what's shifted, what's ending, and what's beginning to emerge. The residency closes with a final making project: a single object that brings together the skills, insights, and instincts developed over the programme.
The purpose isn't perfection. It's integration. Participants leave with something made by hand in Aotearoa - a physical touchstone to remind them of their Re:Make, and to prepare them for whatever comes next.
Language
The full programme runs in English. German-language support is available as needed, ensuring that German-speaking participants are never lost while still receiving the full benefit of language immersion.
